About Me

Working with Renee C. Fountain as my agent, I am currently writing a dystopian thriller with fellow author Stu Jones that draws on scientific fact and dose of creativity to imagine a future that may be closer than we think, or want.

Previously, I have published an adventure trilogy under my own imprint, Agrestic

As a little background: I was born in Plymouth, in the United Kingdom. Growing up in this, often rough, naval town I ignored the distractions around me and pursued my two passions: science and writing fiction. I wrote many short stories between the age of 11 and 18 in my spare time, while securing my future in a scientific career.

At 18 years old, I won a coveted spot on the much-sought-after Marine Biology Bachelors degree at the Plymouth University. During this time, I also acquired a position on the Pelagic Shark Research Foundation’s team to spend some time tagging blue sharks in Monterey Bay California.

Following completion of this first degree, I continued my education and completed a doctoral degree in comparative endocrinology at the Royal Victoria University of Manchester, UK; collaborating with the Universidade do Algarve, Portugal and Radboud Universiteit, Nijmegen, The Netherlands. All the while, I wrote for myself (and my thesis), and read numerous scientific and historical books that fascinated me.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, my love of science and writing kick-started my career: rather than move into post-doctoral studies, I landed a job as a medical writer – developing all manner of scientific communications, from peer-reviewed manuscripts to websites, for the pharmaceutical industry. In the last 10 years, I have pursued this career, living in various countries around the globe, and am now a consultant to pharmaceutical companies.

Despite my heavy workload, I believe in making every second on this Earth count. With this ethos, I continue to pursue both my love of writing as well as an array of interests including: modelling (I currently features on a Swiss photographer’s website); music (I taught myself to play guitar); martial arts (I practice Muay Thai); ancient history (I travel to the old world to explore olden ruins); and tattoos (ask and I might show you).
